Andy Bank, M.D.
Dr. Andy Bank joined Kids First in fall 2025 after completing his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago. Born and raised in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, he’s thrilled to be caring for families close to home.
During medical school and residency, Dr. Bank discovered his greatest passion was in outpatient primary care pediatrics, where he can support children through every stage of development and build lasting relationships with families.
“In pediatrics, you have the privilege of walking alongside a child and their family from infancy through adolescence. I want to be the kind of pediatrician I had growing up — someone kids can trust, ask questions and rely on year after year,” he says.
Dr. Bank has special interests in adolescent health, including sexual and reproductive health, mental health and chronic conditions such as diabetes and autoimmune diseases.
During his residency on the South Side, he devoted a significant amount of time to asthma education and management, helping families simplify treatment plans so that children can thrive. That experience strengthened his commitment to preventive care and addressing healthcare disparities.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bank enjoys kayaking and has even given kayak tours on the Chicago River. He loves hiking and exploring the outdoors with his wife.
Although Dr. Bank grew up near Wrigley, he roots for the White Sox. My parents and brother are Cubs fans, so I was the contrarian,” he says. No doubt some of his teen patients can appreciate the sentiment.
