Cathy DiVincenzo, MD
Dr. Cathy DiVincenzo founded Kids First Pediatric Partners in 2004 with the goal of providing excellent medical care in a warm, family-friendly environment. Prior to attending medical school she completed research in infectious diseases and is the co-author of 15 publications. She graduated from Rush Medical College and completed her residency in Pediatrics at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. DiVincenzo is a life-long Chicago native, and the proud mother of teenage triplets. Her clinical interests include special needs children and multiples. Dr. DiVincenzo’s hobbies include travel, reading, and cheering on the White Sox!
Kathy Shepherd, MD
Dr. Kathy Shepherd joined Kids First Pediatrics in 2006. She graduated from Emory University Medical School and completed her residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She then practiced pediatrics at a community health center caring for underserved children for eight years. She has three sons who have given her plenty of practical pediatric training. Her special interests include breastfeeding, asthma and obesity. In her rare spare time she practices yoga and dreams of gardening. Read a Conversation with Dr. Shepherd.
Adam Aronson, MD
Dr. Adam Aronson, a proud father of five, joined Kids First Pediatric Partners in 2007. After graduating from Temple Medical School in 1999, Dr. Aronson completed his pediatrics residency at the Einstein Medical Center, and then spent a year working at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In 2002, he joined the Pediatric Center of Chicago in Lincoln Park where he remained until joining Kids First Pediatrics. Dr. Aronson enjoys spending time with his family and rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Elana Comrov, MD
Dr. Elana Comrov, a proud mother of four boys, joined Kids First Pediatric Partners in June 2011. After graduating from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, Dr. Comrov completed her pediatrics residency at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital – Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Before joining Kids First Pediatrics, Dr. Comrov worked in both pediatric private practice and in pediatric emergency care in Cleveland and at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Comrov’s interests include childhood asthma/allergies and pediatric dermatology. Dr. Comrov enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and swimming.
Jean Russo, CPNP
Jean Russo is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who joined Kids First Pediatrics in June of 2010. She has practiced as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in primary care since 2007. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa, graduating with honor and distinction. Jean later completed her graduate pediatric nurse practitioner program at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. While in school, Jean worked full-time as a RN in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She enjoys caring for and educating patients and families on all aspects of health, particularly in childhood obesity, nutrition, and asthma management. In her personal life, Jean enjoys being an ‘auntie’ to her two favorite neices. She is an avid runner and loves to travel. Read a conversation with Jean Russo.
Stephanie Brennan, FNP-C
Stephanie Brennan is a Family Nurse Practitioner who joined Kids First Pediatrics in October 2009. She received her BS in Nursing at Northern Illinois University and went on to earn her MS in Nursing at Colorado University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She worked as a FNP in a busy Emergency Room. In this setting, she realized her true love was caring for children. Thus, she transitioned to primary care and continues to provide for the pediatric population. Stephanie enjoys spending time with new parents and educating families on newborn care and lactation. She lives at home with her husband and has first-hand experience with common parental concerns, as her three young daughters keep her busy! Karen Gentile, CPNP
Karen Gentile joined Kids First in 2012 after 10 years in the field of nursing, including two years as a nurse practitioner. Before joining Kids First Pediatric Partners, she worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Memorial Hospital, where she cared for the most seriously ill children in the hospital. Prior to that she worked as a nurse in trauma ICU, neonatal ICU, as a neonatal flight nurse and in pediatric ER. Though seeing so many seriously ill children would be very difficult for any nurse, for Karen it was somewhat of a nurse practitioner “boot camp” that prepared her for working in routine primary care. Pat Lawrence, CPNP
Pat Lawrence joined Kids First in early 2014 after 15 years as a nurse practitioner and many more as a nurse. Pat was a nurse practitioner at Evanston Hospital in the child and adolescent center’s outpatient pediatric clinic for the past 15 years. Because that clinic closed, we welcome several new families to the Kids First family, who joined Pat in the move. When she’s not busy working at Kids First, Pat likes so spend time reading and crocheting.
