Nationally, it is estimated that every year, more than 400,000 infants are born to mothers who are depressed.  Maternal depression affects the entire family.  Undiagnosed and untreated maternal depression can lead to impaired parent-child bonding, ultimately causing deficits in a child’s development.  As part of our goal to provide comprehensive care as your Medical Home, KFPP provides formal screening for maternal depression at the 4 week, 2 month, 4 month and 6 month well visits.   Early and often screening can identify potential concerns; therefore, providing resources for interventions to those at risk or to those suffering from maternal depression.
