prescribe books logoPrescribe a book. Change a life.
That’s been a motto at Kids First for the nearly three years since joining Reach Out and Read, a national initiative of pediatricians to provide books for young children. Through this program, every month we donate books to children under 5 in our very own practice.
Mounting studies show that the early years are critical to a child’s academic success. The amount that a child encounters books at a young age can affect his language skills and academic success later in life. That’s why we “prescribe” 20 minutes of reading each day, promoting early literacy, language skills and encouraging families to bond over a shared loved of reading.
Providing books to children in our practice, starting at 6 months, means that all of our patients have the opportunity to enjoy books.
In addition to providing books to patients, ages 6 months to 5 years, we address age appropriate milestones related to reading and literacy and suggest highly recommended books at each stage of development. Our goal is to enhance our relationship with your child and to promote literacy skills at home. At Kids First Pediatric Partners we value our role as your partner and resource for raising healthy children. It is our hope that as positive role models to your children, we will be able to reinforce the importance of books and reading in their everyday lives. We hope that our excitement over books is contagious and spills into your conversations and interactions with your children. Through this program, we have made it our mission to foster relationships, encourage development and create smiles One Book at a Time.
